Explain to students that they need to learn to write about what they want to write in any genre. The writing changes to meet the genre, but the general topic can stay the same.
Genre Paragraphs
Think of someone that you know, and decide what would be the perfect present for that person.
- Write a persuasive paragraph that gives convincing reasons why that's the perfect gift.
- Write an expository paragraph telling exactly how you would wrap the gift - step-by-step instructions are essential!
- Write a descriptive paragraph describing what the gift looks like now that it's wrapped.
- Finally, write a narrative paragraph detailing what happens when your chosen person gets your present and opens it.
