We had a sub today.
At 2:00, you move to room 7 (directly across the hall) where you will teach 2 periods of Junior English. Normally I don’t show a movie on sub day, but I am today. The students are watching “Mighty Times.” It is already in the DVD player in the corner by the desks, just turn on the overhead projector (you may need to change the input) and then push play on the DVD remote. Both remotes are on my desk. You can ask a student to help you.
It is the story of Rosa Parks, but it also talks about the behind the scenes work of many of the everyday people in the Montgomery AL area that contributed to this civil rights victory.
Please mention to the students that some of the scenes are vintage footage and some of them are re-enactments. The scenes that have movie reel along the side are reenactments.
When the students have finished watching the movie, they should have time to do some free choice reading. If they want to spend a little time discussing the movie, they may.
