Read Where the Wild Things Are while students draw a picture of a monster on a piece of blank paper.
Talk about writing directions. Give students directions guidelines for their writer’s notebooks. Have them write a set of instructions for drawing their “monster” on a separate piece of paper.
Give the instructions to another student and have them try to complete them. Compare results
