Further defining the hero:
1. Have student read "The Man in the Water." Are these everyday acts of heroism by ordinary people more heroic in their own way than the super-heroic acts of Beowulf and others? Heroism is not black and white.
2. Have students view the Byronic Hero PowerPoint. Do they have a preference for one kind of hero over another?
3. Read Beowulf vs. Grendel's mother. Is Grendel's mother's revenge on the Danes justified?
